September 2024: Implications of Fed rate cut
The US Federal Reserve cut rates by 50 basis points in September 2024 after inflation cooled but unemployment rose. Core PCE inflation fell to 2.7%, though still above the Fed’s 2% target. Historically, large initial cuts have led to recession. This rate cut may influence other central banks, including India’s RBI, to lower interest rates.
